Dent Parish Housing Need Survey (2005)

Conclusion

Of the 24 completed Part II forms. Further analysis reveals that 13 were actually looking for alternative homes.

Of the 24, 9 were found not to fit the criteria of being in genuine housing need in Dent for the following reasons.

2 households said that their current home was too small. Both households owned their own home and were judged to have sufficient capital to move and meet their own needs on the open market.

3 households said that their present home was too large.  All owned their own home and were judged to have sufficient capital to move and meet their own needs on the open market.

1 household said that their present home was too expensive but yet again owned their own home and were judged to have sufficient capital to move and meet their own needs on the open market.

1 household gave 'other' reasons through which the judgement was made that they had sufficient capital to move and meet their own needs independently.

1 household are a couple wanting to set up home together and state that their present home is too small.  However, from the information given, it was clear that a partner owns his own home and the move is aspirational rather than necessity.

1 household wants to establish an independent home for an offspring.  Unfortunately no financial information was given for a judgment to be made.
