Duddon (Broughton West) Housing Need Survey (August 2005)

Conclusion
Of the 16 completed Part 2 forms, 11 were found not to fit the criteria of being in genuine housing need in Broughton West for the following reasons:

2 households gave a confusing response from which no judgment could be made.

1 household was anticipating their children's needs for the future and therefore no judgment could be made.

1 household started to complete the form but failed to provide information for a judgment to be made.

3 households owned their home outright and were therefore judged to have sufficient capital to meet their own needs.

2 households owned their homes with the assistance of a mortgage.  One is seeking a larger home, the other a smaller home.  In both cases they were judged to have sufficient capital to meet their own needs and purchase suitable homes on the open market.

1 household owned their home with the assistance of a mortgage.  They do appear to be in need as house prices are expensive in Broughton West.  However they have failed to fully complete the form with information needed to make a judgment and for that reason, no judgment can be made.

1 household is living in private rented accommodation but from the information provided they have sufficient capital available to move and meet their own needs on the open market.

Recommendations

Therefore 5 households were found to fit the criteria of being in genuine housing need, living in the parish.
