The Survey

 

138 survey forms were delivered by hand to all the households and businesses within the parish of Casterton, with a return date of 25th February 2011.  58 households returned their completed forms. This is a return rate of 42.03% which is well above the average of 30.26% return rate for this type of survey in Cumbria since 2006. 

 

Of the returned forms there were 8 responses, saying that either the whole household or someone living within the household wished to move within the parish in the next 5 years. 1 of the responses had the details of 2 households, which meant 9 households in total were assessed.

Of the survey responses indicating a housing need, 6 households are identified as in need of affordable housing in the parish of Casterton within next 5 years. For those in need of affordable housing, the need is for rented housing, and for 2 bedroom houses and flats. No need for local housing was identified.

It is considered that the remaining 3 responses did not fit South Lakeland District Council’s criteria for being in need of affordable housing within the parish in the next 5 years as they could satisfy their need on the open market in Casterton or in the area they were looking to move to.
